For anyone ready to take the next step in mate. Taragui Sin Palo leaves the stems out and gives you pure leaf (around 90% leaf content), which makes for a richer, stronger and fuller experience. This is where you taste the real complexity seasoned mate drinkers are after.
What does Taragui Sin Palo taste like?
Taragui Sin Palo has a uniquely rich and soft flavour with the velvety, creamy texture that pure leaf delivers. You still get the smoky, earthy qualities of traditional yerba mate, but wrapped in a noticeably softer mouthfeel. The higher ratio of leaf to stem brings out more pronounced earthy notes, blended with a subtle sweetness, giving a more complex and fuller flavour than the Traditional version.
About the producer
Taragui Sin Palo comes from Establecimiento Las Marías in Corrientes, Argentina, the world's leading yerba mate producer. Since 1924 they have refined their craft with air-drying technology that eliminates carcinogenic PAHs and preserves purity without agricultural chemicals. Their vertically integrated operation gives them control over every step, from seedbed to packaging, ensuring consistent quality in every sip.
How do you drink Taragui Sin Palo?
Prepare Sin Palo the same way as any other loose yerba mate: fill your gourd three quarters full, tilt it, pour lukewarm water down the side and then add hot water at 70-80°C. Because there are fewer stems, you get a denser, more powdery texture, so a bombilla with a fine filter is preferable. Refill as soon as the flavour fades and count on a richer, more intense experience throughout the day.

When Union launched in 1982, it revolutionised the yerba mate market by creating the first "suave" (soft) mate, proving that authentic Argentinian mate doesn't have to overwhelm you from the first sip. Union Traditional is the approachable everyday option: soft, balanced and developed so you can enjoy mate all day without tiring your palate.
What does Union Suave taste like?
Union Suave has a soft, balanced flavour profile that is immediately pleasant, with surprisingly much character underneath. You taste subtle citrus notes interacting with floral and earthy nuances, while hints of wood and nuttiness give a round, approachable flavour. The aroma is sweet, rich and full, with floral undertones and dry fruity notes, and ranks among the most complex aromas in the Union range. There is a mild bitterness, a touch of grain and even notes of honey that make this a soft and agreeable mate to drink.
About the producer
Union Traditional is produced by Establecimiento Las Marías in Gobernador Virasoro, Corrientes, Argentina, the same production site where Taragui is made. Las Marías manages the entire process, from the selection of the seedbeds to the final packaging, uses organic methods instead of pesticides and holds FSC certification for sustainable forest management. When Union was introduced in 1982, it was the first yerba mate developed specifically to be soft and mild, and that changed the market for good.
How do you drink Union Suave?
Fill your gourd about three quarters with Union Suave, tilt the gourd and pour lukewarm water down the sloped side. Then add hot water at 70-80°C and place your bombilla in the gourd. Take a sip and pass it on. Union Traditional gives flavourful infusions that last for hours, which makes it perfect for long mate sessions. You can also use the French press method if you prefer: steep 1-2 tablespoons per cup for 3-5 minutes, then strain.
