Amanda Despalada has an authentic, lightly smoky flavour with a stronger and more pronounced mate character than traditional varieties, and despite that higher intensity it still manages to stay soft and mild. You taste grassy and woody notes with a touch of sweetness, giving a cleaner infusion with a softer and more consistent flavour thanks to the absence of stems. The taste is noticeably stronger than con palo versions and delivers a more concentrated mate character without becoming harsh or overwhelming.

How do you drink Amanda Despalada?
Prepare Amanda Despalada with the traditional mate method: fill your gourd about three quarters, tilt it and add lukewarm water first, then hot water at 70-80°C. Use a spoon bombilla or a slotted bombilla (the low dust content means clogging isn't a major problem, but these work best). Refill with hot water as needed; you will get around 20 refills with strong flavour. The sin palo form naturally contains more caffeine, which makes this variety ideal for the morning or whenever you need sustained energy through the day.
